Somebody has been in this room a long time. Nobody says how long. The bandages tell part of the story — loosening at the wrists, unraveling at the feet, that specific kind of wear that only happens over time, not from a single bad day.

Dry is the newest drop from antiquepeanut on Mash-It.io — a piece of creepy cute art that says less than it shows, which is exactly how much it needs to say.

The Mummy

The eyes are the first thing that gets you — spiraled, dizzy, the kind of swirl that shows up when someone has gone too long without water. They’re leaking anyway. Small pale blue drops running down the bandaged face, tears that don’t have anything behind them. Crying dry. That’s the title, and once you see it in the piece, it’s the whole piece.

One hand is raised near the mouth, fingers pinched together — not a threat, not a spell. Something closer to a nervous habit. A small stitched smile sits under the wrapping. There’s a scrawled symbol on the exposed skin at the torso, something between a scar and a doodle, never explained and not needed to be.

At its feet: a water jug with its own tiny painted face, eyes shut, clearly empty and has been for a while. Next to that, a roll of tissue that’s come loose and unspooled on the ground on its own, the way things do when nobody’s touched them in a long time but time keeps passing regardless.

The Wall Has Its Own Face

The background sets this in an abandoned Egyptian dungeon — cracked brick exposed at the top corner, a dead branching crack running down the plaster like a dried root system, sand-colored walls that have clearly outlasted whatever used to be kept in this room.

Two large cross eyes are painted directly onto the wall — pale blue, dripping down the brick like they’ve been open and crying longer than anyone else in the room. It’s one room, one moment, one character running out of the thing it needed most — and a wall that has apparently been crying about something long before this piece started.
