“A Glimmer of Summer in the Rain”
The Concept and Inspiration Behind “Have Summer When It’s Rain”
The Concept:
The core concept of “Have Summer When It’s Rain” is built on the idea of internal resilience and finding happiness from within. I wanted to create a character that visually embodies the notion of carrying your own personal sanctuary. We all face days that feel like a storm—whether it’s literal rain or emotional grayness. This avatar is a symbol of choosing to cultivate a positive space for yourself, even when the world outside feels challenging. The clear, domed head acts as a metaphorical bubble, containing a vibrant, summery scene with a tiny sun and clouds, while the character calmly stands amidst a rainy, dark forest. It’s a peaceful juxtaposition that highlights the power of perspective. This avatar isn’t about ignoring the rain, but rather about learning to be at peace with it, all while holding onto your own personal light.
The Inspiration:
My inspiration for this avatar came from a very personal place. I’ve always been fascinated by how different people navigate difficult times. I started thinking about what it truly means to be resilient. It’s not about being immune to sadness or struggle; it’s about finding a way to thrive despite them.
I was particularly inspired by the quiet moments of introspection that often happen on rainy days. There’s a certain calm that comes with watching the rain fall, and I wanted to capture that feeling. The image of a person standing peacefully in a downpour, with no fear of getting wet, became the central metaphor. The idea evolved into the character having a separate, beautiful world inside their head, representing thoughts, memories, and hopes that keep them warm and happy. The little fish swimming in the water inside his head add a playful touch, symbolizing the joyful and sometimes chaotic nature of our inner worlds. This avatar is a reminder that even when things seem dark, we have the capacity to create our own sunshine.
